Position: Political and Ballot Table Director

Arizona Wins is the Arizona affiliate coalition of America Votes. America Votes is the national coordination hub of the progressive community. America Votes and its affiliates lead collaborative efforts among a diverse coalition of more than 400 state and national partner organizations to advance progressive policies, win elections, and protect every American's right to vote.
 
Arizona Wins provides a range of services to our coalition partners, including strategic planning, advocacy and electoral campaign coordination, data tools and targeting services, connection to a national community of funders and allies, and on-the-ground leadership. Arizona Wins’ coalition partners advocate for a broad range of issues including, but not limited to, Latino community organizing and voter engagement, voting rights, public education, human and civil rights, women's choice, environmental protection, labor, worker’s rights and economic justice.
 
 
Position Description
The Political and Ballot Table Director will have a dual role. At least 50% of this position’s time will be managing the Arizona Wins Ballot Initiative Strategy Table, a group of partners working towards a long term progressive ballot measure strategy in the state, as well as coordinating the work of Arizona Wins and our partners with ballot measure campaigns, coordinating between campaigns, and managing ballot measure related program. Additionally, the Political and Ballot Table Director will assist the Executive Director and lobby team in crafting, managing, and executing legislative campaigns during session, and planning for legislative session with partners, to accomplish progressive goals at the legislature. Other duties assigned may include assisting the Executive Director in other buckets of work, managing relationships with partners, and representing the coalition in various settings.
 
Responsibilities Include:
  • Plan and manage campaigns to achieve legislative goals, including digital, field, earned and paid media tactics.
  • Train and support partners for legislative and organizing goals, and hold partners accountable to their commitments for campaigns
  • Manage the Arizona Ballot Initiative Strategy table, setting regular meetings for the committee partners and driving long term planning in partnership with the Executive Director
  • Manage Ballot Measure related work such as mail and digital program, and work with the whole team to integrate ballot measure work with all programs
  • Manage relationships with ballot measure campaigns, coordinate Arizona Wins work with these campaigns, and coordinate between campaigns
  • Oversee ballot measure research and development
 
Qualifications Required:
  • At least two cycles of field experience with a progressive organization, union, political campaign, party or coalition
  • Understanding of and ability to execute campaign tactics, including mail, digital, phones, organizing, etc
  • Ability to manage paid firms and consultants effectively
  • Experience managing high level relationships; ability to manage partners and hold people accountable
  • Understanding of the legislative process
  • Understanding of the ballot measure process
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, strong understanding of coalition work
  • Strong cultural competence with communities of color and experience working with diverse groups
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent deadlines
  • Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment.
 
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Experience working on a ballot measure campaign
  • Experience working in the legislature, as a lobbyist, or in an advocacy position
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English
  • Access to reliable transportation
 
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience ranging from $55,000-$70,000. Benefits include health, dental, vision and 401k.
