Position Description
Iconico’s team is launching a new effort, a nonprofit called Instituto. This new organization’s vision is to ensure that every community has the inherent leadership, capacity, and resources to create its own solutions. With access to tools, skills, and resources, community leaders will have the capacity to find and execute solutions that will be most impactful for their communities. Instituto will focus on developing this capacity by: 1) accelerating the impact of emerging leaders and 2) supporting innovative ideas, tools, and solutions that can help mobilize progressive social change.  

Instituto will identify, invest, and support tomorrow’s social entrepreneurs who have innovative solutions to tackle some of the greatest social challenges facing communities of color. While highly skilled and visionary, these leaders and their organizations lack the infrastructure and resources to achieve their greatest impact. Instituto will help accelerate and amplify the reach of these leaders by training and coaching community leaders and their staff in the areas of nonprofit management and advocacy. In particular, Instituto will offer participants support in the following areas: Budgeting and management; Strategic planning; Internal decision-making processes; Crisis communications; Data collection and analysis; and Innovative online and offline community engagement strategies. With guidance and in-depth training and coaching in these areas, participants will have the knowledge they need to be more impactful. The Training & Community Engagement Director will be a critical role in developing capacity of future leaders in Arizona and ensuring the next generation of Arizonan leaders who will improve the livelihoods of all Arizonans.  Specific responsibilities may include:
  • Ensuring that all ​leadership development programs​ and internal needs are well designed and engaging to attendees in areas identified above and other emerging needs;
  • Assessing training needs and identifying appropriate training solutions wherever needed;
  • Supporting on the development of trainings and presentations or external presentations to build brand awareness and to position Instituto and Iconico in the external market;
  • Developing a training program to train individuals to create the tools organizations needed to increase their digital footprint and impact, including everything from effective databases to tracking voting patterns, to new technologies to communicate with people via mobile and social media; and
  • Supporting the organization’s convenings with its fellows who will receive intensive support in the key areas of service that Instituto provides, including building capacity in relevant areas currently challenging their electoral and advocacy efforts.
  • Engaging diverse communities across the state to include new and emerging voices to help grow the progressive movement throughout the state.
  • Organizing meet-ups around issues affecting communities of color around the state.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required;
  • Minimum 7-10 years relevant work experience;
  • Track record of success in an entrepreneurial, startup work environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing up and working well in a consultative work environment with a range of clients;
  • Exceptional project management skills, including demonstrated success in planning and managing complex projects through to completion;
  • Proven ability to handle and effectively prioritize a high volume of work, and adapt to new information and changing priorities;
  • Ability to influence others to outcomes and a set a high bar for quality of work;
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal, and presentation skills); and
  • Spanish preferred but not required
 
Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience and includes health insurance.
