Mi Familia Vota / Mi Familia Vota Education Fund is one of the premiere Latino civic engagement organizations in the country with a trained and skilled staff dedicated to the empowerment and civic participation of the Latino community. MFV/ MFV EF develops, coordinates, and implements sophisticated non-partisan field programs and strategies including citizenship promotion and assistance, voter registration, and voter education and mobilization.
Established in 2008, MFV/ MFVEF is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors comprised of renowned labor leaders, LGBT rights leaders, and leaders in the corporate and philanthropic sectors. MFVEF is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, maintaining operations in Riverside & Modesto, California; Denver & Pueblo, Colorado; Orlando & Tampa, Florida; Reno & Las Vegas, Nevada; and Houston, Texas. They will build a strong base of student leaders to build power in their assigned areas. Position Description
We are seeking a people oriented Community Organizer to join our Phoenix-based Chispa Arizona team. The Community Organizer will be an experienced organizer who is tasked with engaging and building relationships with the Latinx community and other communities of color in the Phoenix area to take action in the fight against environmental injustice and climate change. The Community Organizer must be passionate and invested in mobilizing and growing our statewide base of volunteers and supporters, and experienced in building individual and collective power in communities of color. The Community Organizer will join a hard-working, skilled, and growing data-driven organizing department, working closely with the Chispa AZ Organizing Director, organizers and volunteer teams. We are looking for an outgoing, friendly, self-motivated, experienced community organizer who is goal-driven and passionate about developing new environmental justice leaders who will fight for clean air, clean water, clean energy, including our Clean Buses for Healthy Niños campaign, and the protection of public lands.

- Support the development and implementation of the LDP in Phoenix.
- Build out a base of Latino immigrant residents.
- Identify and recruit students to participate in LDP.
- Assist in identifying and developing leadership among members.
- Work with the Phoenix Coordinator, and State Director to develop strategies and a vision to empower students.
- Participate in and conduct training as a part of professional development.
- Continuously update and maintain data related to membership, training, and campaigns.
- Support civic engagement work.
- Work with Mi Familia Vota partners for coalition actions, training, campaigns, and campaign development.
- Prepare and submit regular and ad hoc reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Commitment and passion for social, racial and gender justice;
- Significant experience in community, labor, student work, or grassroots organizing;
- Understanding of issues facing low income and minority communities;
- Comfort with the implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics;
- Willingness to work on local issue campaigns along with contributing to possible statewide and national campaigns;
- Self-motivated - proven ability to work independently;
- Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborating, fast-paced environment;
- Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English
- Dedication and ability to work flexible hours;
- Fluency in Spanish preferred.
