​Position: Campaign Manager

Organization Overview
The Montoya for Phoenix City Council District 7 is seeking a qualified campaign manager to direct the November 2020 race.  The campaign manager will guide and direct the candidate's election efforts. A qualified candidate must have excellent organizational skills, be level-headed, have good interpersonal skills and be comfortable raising money.  This is a contracted position for the period of January - November 2020 with potential to extend to a March 2021 run-off election.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Oversee all aspects of research, drafting and implementation of the district campaign plan.
  • ​Formulate the budget for the campaign, monitor compliance and manage fiduciary oversight and campaign finance reporting requirements.
  • Manage Montoya for Phoenix team of paid consultants and volunteers.
  • Define roles and negotiate contracts with all vendors, consultants, and volunteers, including fundraising, field and the media.
  • Lead fundraising team identifying and soliciting funds for a significant fundraising campaign.
  • Build a broad, effective grassroots campaign including, but not limited to, coalition building, voter registration and responsible for overseeing get-out-the-vote activities.
  • Oversee the development of paid media production, distribution and broadcast (TV, radio & direct mail) and manage aggressive free media campaign.
  • Staff and manage campaign cabinet meetings and assignments.
  • Advise candidate on campaign priorities and provide progress reports.

Qualifications Required:
  • A minimum of five years of political organizing/campaign management experience, including experience with a district or statewide campaign where volunteer-executed voter identification played a central role in the campaign.
  • Proved track record in coalition building, grassroots or field campaign organizing, financial oversight, and public speaking.
  • Experience with media relations.
  • Ability to demonstrate fundraising experience and knowledge of campaign funding sources.
  • Experience producing quality public materials, including press releases, campaign e-mails, etc.  
  • Proven ability to work with diverse communities, serve as a team leader, and maintain a sense of humor.
